Much of Puerto Rico Is Without Power as Hurricane Fiona Spreads to Dominican Republic

Weather officials warned Puerto Rico could see landslides and mudslides amid life-threatening rain stemming from Hurricane Fiona, which has knocked out power for much of the island and prompted overflowing rivers and flash floods.

The National Weather Service in San Juan on Monday pressed residents to move to higher ground immediately, noting that heavy rainfall would “only aggravate the current situation,” particularly for the southern and western half of Puerto Rico.
